Associate Professor Lindsay Heywood has held academic and senior executive positions in four major Australian universities, including Professor of Quality Systems and Director of Quality Development at RMIT University.
He is an experienced physiologist and has a particular interest in the outcomes of professional education and in professional standards and assessment systems. He has worked in these fields with the Australian Government and professional bodies in Australia and overseas, including the Higher Education Standards panel in developing the new Australian Higher Education Standards Framework.
In other roles, Lindsay has developed quality assurance systems and improvement systems for government accrediting authorities, he implemented the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) certification in education, and established the inaugural national quality system for vocational education and training for Australian General Practice Training.
He has also been instrumental in reviewing and applying the Australian Business Excellence Framework and was a Director of the National Childcare Accreditation Council for several years before joining the Board of the PRC.
Lindsay is currently Honorary Associate Professor and Principal Fellow, Melbourne Centre for the Study of Higher Education at the University of Melbourne, and Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Lindsay was awarded an Excellence in Teaching Award from the University of Sydney for outstanding contributions to teaching and learning.
