Executive Assistant
We have an opportunity for a talented Executive Assistant to join our dedicated team in East Melbourne.
Reporting to the Executive Director, this position is responsible for providing high level secretarial and research support to the Executive Director, Executive (currently three members) as well as the Board of Management. This involves diary management, travel and accommodation bookings, as well as attending as Secretariat to the monthly Board meetings.
To be considered for this opportunity, you must have experience supporting a senior manager / executive group with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and providing quality services at all times. You will have strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities to meet timelines, whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy. You will also possess advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office.
The successful applicant will be able to communicate effectively with people at all levels and represent PRC positively at internal and external forums. As part of a genuinely supportive and people-focused team committed to maintaining an open and collaborative environment, you will need to be able to work independently with limited supervision, and use your initiative and planning skills to ensure all activities are completed.
Candidates who have a Certificate III (or other relevant qualifications) and/or work experience in the not for profit sector will be held in high regard.

Research Officer

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Research Officer to join our team. This position will conduct research, develop reports and correspondence and produce scientific presentations and publications. The Research Officer will also have the opportunity to work collaboratively across the Centre with other researchers and liaise directly with external agencies and project partners.
To be considered for this position, you will have completed your Honours degree in psychology or a related discipline, have a real interest in parenting and families and possess advanced skills, and experience using literature search databases and Endnote, as well as statistical software including SPSS. You will also have skills in social science research methods with demonstrated capacity to conduct high quality and innovative research in ‘real world’ settings.

Science Communicator, Parenting Content
Part time, 3 days per week

We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a Science
Communicator to join our fun and dynamic team in East Melbourne. As Science
Communicator (parenting content), you will develop online content for resources
primarily for Australia’s national parenting information website www.raisingchildren.net.au.
Raising Children Network (RCN) is a consortium of three organisations:
the Centre for Community Child Health, Royal Children’s Hospital (CCCH); Smart
Population Foundation (SPF); and the Parenting Research Centre (PRC). SPF plays
a managing editor role, which includes coordinating all content development and
guiding content tone and style, in addition to website production and promotion.
PRC and the CCCH are responsible for the development of content on the site,
either in-house or in collaboration with content partners.
Supporting the RCN Content Manager, your key objective will be
translating the science of parenting and child development into understandable,
engaging and practical information that assists parents in the task of raising
their children. To do this, you will work with a range of internal and external
subject matter experts to create content that is well structured and suitable
for online publication.
You will develop a strong understanding of PRC style and be responsible
for applying that style to all content you produce. You will support the RCN
Content Manager in guiding content developed through the conceptualisation,
writing and quality assurance stages of production.
As part of the Knowledge Exchange team, you will contribute to the
development of the organisation’s capacity to translate science into practical
and effective solutions for families.

Research Fellow
The Centre has an exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced Research Fellow to join their dedicated team in East Melbourne.
The Research Fellow will be responsible for conducting, publishing and presenting research (including literature reviews). This will involve contributing to the design of new research projects, coordinating ethics approvals, contributing to project related communications and meetings and identifying new collaboration and funding opportunities.
To be considered for this role, you will possess a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. social science, policy or health) and have made substantial progress towards obtaining your doctoral qualification (or equivalent skills and experience). You will have a strong commitment to professional ethics and evidence based practice and demonstrated understanding of the literature on parenting in vulnerable circumstances.
This is a unique opportunity to use your quantitative and qualitative data collection methods and research skills to progress your academic career publishing and presenting your research findings.
You will also have excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with relevant academic, government, industry and community stakeholders and partners, as well as strong organisational and time management skills.
