10,000+ parents. A clearer picture of parenting in Australia.

The Parenting Today survey is a landmark research initiative led by the Parenting Research Centre, designed to capture a rich and up-to-date picture of parenting in Australia today.

Launched in August 2025, Parenting Today is the largest-ever survey of parents in Australia, providing a comprehensive national picture of parenting, wellbeing, and support needs.

Whether you’re a parent, caregiver, service provider, educator or policymaker, these insights matter and help shape what better support looks like for all families.

We’re getting ready to share what we’ve learned

We are currently releasing the first round of findings, focused on how parents are faring – including their wellbeing, confidence and experiences of support.

The early insights reveal an important, and perhaps surprising, national story: most parents are feeling positive and capable, but there are clear pockets of need that require attention.

We can also see that some parents are experiencing significant levels of distress, regardless of their background or circumstances.

What’s coming next?

Over the coming months, Parenting Today will continue to release new insights across a range of topics shaping parenting in Australia.

These will:

  • build a more complete national picture over time
  • highlight opportunities for action and investment
  • support a stronger, more connected system of support for parents.

A dedicated Parenting Today platform is currently in development, where these insights and resources will live.
